Gina Fisher is an artist from Cornwall in the South West of England, with collectors found far and wide. Taking inspiration from the colours and beauty found endlessly in nature, Gina’s art is both calming and inspiring. Her aim is to make the viewer feel a sense of peacefulness through the use of colour and through painting the creatures and flowers we all know and love. People often say that her work gives them a new appreciation for the natural world that surrounds us. Colours can trigger an emotional response and that's what she finds exciting- exploring new colour combinations in each piece and delivering something new and exciting every time. Her work has been described as captivating and somewhat atmospheric. She is an oil painter who has a huge love for the versatility and the buttery richness that oil paint always promises. Her work isn't digitally manipulated and instead has a feeling of vulnerability and rawness. Final touches like resin drips, gold leaf or diamond dust gives each piece it's own last stamp of individuality.
Gina remembers the time at school when her art teacher pulled her to one side after a lesson and told her to seriously think about a career as an artist. After much thought, she decided to persue a career in the hairdressing industry instead, training with the very famous fashion brand Toni&Guy and winning many awards. Although she loved using her creative streak as a hairdresser, she always felt like she had ‘more to give.’ She had a 'calling' you could say, that expanded further than this. She picked up a paint brush again and the rest was history!
Family walks on the beach and in the woods are important to her and she adores cooking, especially French cuisine. Gina likes to write in her spare time and has published a book. She's currently writing number 2.
'Nothing beats painting for me though. Nothing at all. The excitement and passion I feel is so powerful. I want to drag people away from staring at their phones. I want to be responsible for making people loose themselves for a moment, simply by looking at paint on a canvas.'
